The Crucifix is in Place

Before:

After:

The icon of Jesus that was on the altar is now over the doorway entering the church from the narthex. In its place is the tabernacle with an icon of the Last Supper.

And one more:

We had to add the white edging so that the beams of the cross didn't get lost in the dark background. That's why the installation of the crucifix was delayed until today--just in time for Ash Wednesday services!

What's the Tabernacle for?

A place to keep the reliquiae that are to be carried out to shut-ins and the hospitalized.

That looks wonderful. Congratulations.

Very, very impressive new look, Fr. Koch. I love it. Also, I am delighted, gratified, and encouraged to see that you practice the reverent reservation of the Blessed Sacrament for the sake of communions outside of Mass. The new crucifix, and your tabernacle, are two reasons I want to drop in some time. Your web site says you have Mass on Sat. at 5 PM & Sun. at 9 AM. Is that up to date info?

Thanks, Christopher. It's good to have it finally done. I've been spending way too much time recently focusing on installation, lighting, etc. People responded positively at the Ash Wednesday service last night. The only "negative" response I heard was that some expected it to be a little bigger!

Latif, yes the web site is up to date. You're welcome not only to see the new furnishings, but also (and especially) to hear the Gospel of our Lord Jesus. ;) Hope to see you soon!

Your Sunday schedule matches up with that of St. Stephen's, and presently my work schedule conflicts with your Saturday Mass, but one of these days, I look forward to paying a visit.
